DASAC Boating Competition

Early On Sunday the 9th April, a dedicated(Crazy) group of members headed of to Rother Valley Country Park to compete in the DASAC Boating event, the day gave us nearly every type of weather imaginable, rain, snow, sleet, hail and the occasional spells of sunshine. Steve Parry had agreed to enter his boat (JAZMIN) in the Clubs name with his crew, Graham Elliott, Frank Richardson and Chris Ryan. First of there was a sea check by the RNLI, checking the knowledge of the crew, trailer condition and the boats equipment , then came the launching, we came joint 1st with IKSAC  DIVERS on this test, with the Blue Marlin coming third, next came the three events from a possible five. We had to layout of buoys, and then manoeuvre them at speed, we achieved a 23/25 points for this timed event, GOOD EFFORT!!  Next was the event that gets everyone cold, the relay swim across the lake with a water temperature of 3oc. Chris & Graham had voluntered to do this for us and not only won it but set a new record for fastest time in the history of DASAC. Finally there was the buoyage at sea task with engine break down simulation. Thanks go to our crew on the not so dry land, Julie & Connor Ryan, Jackie Parry, Jenny Elliott, Matt Gration,Andy & Maxine Stokes. Special thanks go to the RNLI for the flare demonstration and the organisers from DASAC , Tony Street, Ray Foster, Stuart Bird and Pete Smith without whom the event would not have taken place.
